Ciresul in floare / Cherry Tree Blooms

pictura in acrilic, panza pe rama din lemn, dimensiune 20 x 50 cm
acrylic painting, canvas on wooden frame, size 20 x 50 cm

...  Ma innecam in disperare, dar spiridusul s-a trezit ...
Eu am crescut in timpurile in care sloganul "invatati, invatati, invatati" era afisat in toate salile de clasa, iar mai tarziu am citit ca "geniul este 1% inspiratie si 99% transpiratie", asa ca ce altceva puteam sa fac decat sa ma pun pe ...  "transpirat".

On a late spring day, prodded along by my dear friend Rodica, after too many years of artistic laziness during which I just looked, admired and envied,  we found ourselves on the doorstep of the Darlu workshop of Mrs Lucia Morariu.  Here, surrounded by jars full of magical colors, brushes of all shapes and sizes, paintings, icons on wood, and pieces of furniture dignified by fairy-tale flowers, I rediscovered joy - the joy of dipping my brush in the right color - and then agony - why doesn't my hand listen to me anymore and doesn't materialize what I see with my mind's eye? ... Rodica was telling me it is fine, that I just need patience. ...  Luci however was telling me that I should practice and practice until I get it the way I want it. ... I was drowning in despair, but the little genie had awakened ...
I grew up up in a time when the slogan "learn, learn, learn" was displayed in all classrooms and later I read that "genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration", so what else could I do but start to ... "perspire".
And so, here is my first painting after 30 years of langour!  Shy, awkward in places, but full of hope and happiness.
Extraordinary how inspiration works!  I now realize that I chose for my first painting a blooming cherry tree, at the start of its development cycle.  Actually, that is how I felt - at the start of a new journey.  An inward journey - like all journeys that are worth the bother.
I hope you enjoy it too.
